The R-410A Refrigerant Transition: What Florida Homeowners Need to Know

What the R-410A transition means for your current AC, your repairs and your next replacement in Southwest Florida, with the dates that matter.

By Diego Corredor, owner of ACMAN LLC. Updated

In short

New R-410A systems stopped being made on January 1, 2025. An EPA rule effective July 27, 2026 allows systems built before 2025 that are still in stock to be installed, and servicing existing R-410A systems stays legal.

What changed

Can older stock still be installed?

What it means for your current system

  • Your existing R-410A system is legal to keep and run.

  • You do not need to replace a working system because of the transition.

When you replace
